Jon Spear plays lead guitar and mandolin. Jon won’t admit how long he’s been playing guitar but we know for a fact that he was in a band that opened for the Isley Brothers when Twist & Shout was number one and for the Angels when My Boyfriend’s Back was also at the top of the charts. He counts among his many influences Chuck Berry, Hollywood Fats, Leo Kottke, Paul Simon, and above all, Lionel “Linc” Chamberland. A few years ago, Jon’s grandfather passed away and left him a mandolin, which Jon has now learned to complement his guitar work. Jon is a well known part of the local Washington, DC blues scene and his experienced hand gives a strong sense of authenticity to RBT’s rootsy sound.
